DIY Gutter Boat Specifications

1. Overall Size

  • Length and width: Less than 7.00 inches from bow to stern and less than 4.00 inches wide.

  • Mast height: No taller than 6.50 inches above deck.

2. Hull & Structure

  • No extra weights allowed.  

3. Sail

  • May be trimmed or shaped as long as the maximum measurements are not exceeded.

5. Decoration

  • No restrictions on color or design.

6. Racing Rules

  • One person per team pushes the boat by blowing through a provided straw to propel the boat down the gutter track.

  • No hands may touch the boat during the race.

  • Time will be tracked by the judges.

  • Boats must start with stern touching the end of the gutter. Total time will be tracked until the bow touches the other end.

  • Each team gets 2 tries. Alterations can be made between races. The best time will be registered as the team’s best time.

  • Only one team will receive the grand prize. The best time will be decided at 2:45 pm on the day of StrawberryFest.
