The Colonial Club could not do what we do without the time, dedication, and talents of our volunteers. Approximately 60 volunteers are scheduled each week to assist with various activities essential to our operations. In addition, many more volunteers help with programs, local senior needs, facility tasks, and our annual fundraising events. Below is a more detailed description of the ways in which volunteers can get involved.

Main Office Receptionist

Our main office is the "central control" for all things that happen at the Colonial Club. Volunteer receptionists answer phones, transfer calls, register members for activities/programs, take payments, write receipts, answer questions, and direct guests to activity locations. Volunteers can help weekly, biweekly, or on a substitute basis. Training is provided, and a six-month commitment is desirable.

Gift Shop

Work in our Three Wishes Gift Shop. Serve customers, package purchases, and run the cash register.

Kitchen Assistance

Assist with light food preparation, package home delivery meals, set tables, serve the lunch-time meal, or assist with clean up/dishes. Volunteers need to be comfortable in a standing position, and can help on a weekly or substitute basis.

Home Delivered Meal Drivers

Deliver lunch-time meals to seniors in Sun Prairie, Cottage Grove, Marshall or Deerfield. Volunteers can specify which routes they prefer. This opportunity takes 1-2 hours of your time, and can be done weekly, bi-weekly, or on a substitute basis. Mileage reimbursement is available.

Activities and Programs

Assist with various activities and programs attended by club and community members. Programs may be held weekly or monthly, while others are short-term offerings (six week classes). If interested, please ask about current needs.

Special Events

As a nonprofit senior center, we rely on our annual fundraising events to fund a portion of our budget. The Health Fair (April), StrawberryFest (June), Brat Bash (August), and ColoniALE (November) could not happen without the help of our many volunteers. Many different roles available.

Miscellaneous Facility Tasks

Assist with holiday decorating, post holiday tear down, Spring and Fall grounds clean up, painting, or light maintenance tasks.

Local Senior Needs

Help an area senior with grocery shopping, errands, light home maintenance, yard work, or shoveling.
